Head Chef
Ivan Kiselev
Ivan Kiselev's culinary journey began with a small but significant moment — the first borscht he cooked at the age of 8. From that point on, his love for cooking grew into a true passion, and over the years, it evolved into a profession he both loves and lives for.
In 2013, Ivan began his career in the restaurant industry, starting as a cook and eventually working his way up to head chef, gaining valuable experience across various local projects. One of the key milestones was leading the kitchen of a well-known local restaurant with an original culinary concept. He also pursued education not only as a chef but also as a dairy product technologist, which broadened his knowledge and skills, enabling him to work with ingredients on a new level.
Ivan is constantly seeking new opportunities to experiment in the kitchen, exploring untapped flavor horizons. For him, cooking is not just about food — it’s about the emotions it evokes. He believes that real food should not only satisfy hunger but also bring joy.
Today, Ivan Kiselev is the head chef at the Syrovarnya restaurant in Almaty.
A new culinary hotspot has emerged on Almaty's gastronomic map — Syrovarnya by Arkady Novikov. The restaurant spans 1,000 square meters and features several zones: a café, bar, main dining hall, and a spacious veranda surrounded by greenery. The interior combines light natural materials, soft lighting, and elements of Kazakh ornamentation, adding local charm and warmth to the space. An open kitchen lets guests witness the culinary magic firsthand, while the house-made cheese becomes the highlight of every dish. Syrovarnya is more than just a restaurant — it’s a place you’ll want to return to, drawn by its flavors, atmosphere, and that special feeling you get from the very first moment.
