Vladimir Gorbatenko discovered his passion for cooking at an early age, helping his grandmother in the kitchen. Growing up in the village, he loved baking pies and cakes — experiences that sparked a lifelong love for creating food with soul.
At just 16, he took his first step into professional kitchens, joining the most prestigious restaurant in his hometown as a kitchen assistant. His drive and determination were quickly noticed.
Vladimir went on to study Restaurant and Hotel Management at Sh. Ualikhanov University. His career has taken him across Kazakhstan: from Astana and Borovoe to Petropavlovsk and Kokshetau. Each stop enriching his skills and deepening his understanding of diverse culinary traditions.
Today, as Head Chef of Syrovarnya in Almaty, Vladimir brings his own vision and creativity to the restaurant’s well-loved concept, combining expertise, passion, and a touch of innovation.
A new culinary hotspot has emerged on Almaty's gastronomic map — Syrovarnya by Arkady Novikov. The restaurant spans 1,000 square meters and features several zones: a café, bar, main dining hall, and a spacious veranda surrounded by greenery. The interior combines light natural materials, soft lighting, and elements of Kazakh ornamentation, adding local charm and warmth to the space.
